Generally in all of our computers our operating system will be installed in (C:) drive and due to that any newly installed applications will start installing in the same drive under Program Files folder unless you change the drive manually. If suppose you want to install your apps in another drive other than C drive, you can choose manually but what in case you want all the applications that you want to install from now on to be stored in that drive only? In that case you can set the default application installing location to drive that you desire to. In order to set the location follow these steps:
Before changing the location, first we have to take a backup of our registry files. So, open ‘run’ and type ‘regedit’ and then press ‘ok’. A window opens, go to file menu and select ‘export’, then it asks for a location and file name, select a location and save it with some name. Now, in the left side of the registry editor window that is already opened, you will find ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE’, click on that and select ‘SOFTWARE’, under that select Microsoft, then go to Windows and then CurrentVersion under that. Search for ‘ProgramFilesDir’ and double click on it, now simply change the drive to E:\Program Files or any drive that you want to. Thus, you are finished with changing the windows application installation location.
