Google released ‘Android 4.0’ named Icecream Sandwich, a newer version of its already existing Android mobile operating system. The Icecream Sandwich’s new features include:
- Improved performance and speed
- Useful for smartphones and tablets
- Enhanced multitasking feature
- Multitasking in a much improved manner
- Physical or capacitive buttons replaced with Virtual buttons in the user interface
- New favorites tray and home screen folders
- New and improved lock screen actions with facial unlock feature
- A functionality ‘Pinch-to-zoom’ is provided in the calendar
- Enhanced Gmail with left and right swiping features between conversations of Gmail
- Support for Bluetooth HDP and Wi-Fi direct connectivities
- Panorama mode, zero shutter lag and face detection, built-in photo editor features with enhanced camera apps
- Snapshot, zoom while recording, AF with improved video recorder
- Enhanced spell checking, text input, voice input and web browser
- New ‘Roboto’ font
- Rapid exchange of data using new Android Beam feature
