Is any of your MS-Office file containing important data related to your office or college got damaged or is not opening? If this is the case, I can guess your situation it would be very irritating because you lose some valuable data or just have sit for the whole day and re-do the work which you have already done previously. To avoid redoing of work and bring back your damaged files follow these simple steps for recovering or repairing those documents. You can detect and repair those damages either from your MS-Office directly or by using some tools or using temporary files.
Using MS-Office:
In any of the MS-Office versions or documents related to MS-Office like word, excel etc. you will be provided with an option ‘Detect and repair’ in help menu present at top of any MS-office document. Selecting that option will partially detect and repair your documents that have been damaged due to some hardware/ software failure or some other errors and give back the original or corrupted file to you. But this is not that good as recovery tools because you may not be able to recover or repair all the documents that you want.
Using MS-Office Recovery softwares or tools:
For recovering or repairing corrupted files there are some office recovery softwares and tools present in the internet which are available for free. The best document repair tool or recovery software is:
DocRepair - http://www.jufsoft.com/docrepair/msmarketplace.asp
Using temporary files:
Another way to recover these corrupted files, is to recover them from temporarily stored files in your computer. To do that first located the folder in which your corrupted file is present, then go to ‘tools’ menu in the menu bar. Select ‘folder options’, a window opens where four tabs will be present. Go to ‘view’ tab in that window and check ‘show hidden files and folders’. Then all the hidden files of that folder will be displayed and the temp files related to your corrupted word document will be displayed as ~wraxxxx.tmp. For recovering your corrupted word or excel document find that temp file in your folder and change the extension of that file from .tmp to .doc. Thus, you are finished with the conversion and your document will be successfully recovered.
