Here is a method to explain you how to perform partitions on your hard disk drive without much difficulty in Windows XP. For partitioning your hard disk easily: Go to ‘My Computer’, right click on it and select ‘manage’. A new window opens with name ‘Computer Management’, select ‘disk management’ in that window. Upon clicking Disk Management, present partitions with their sizes along with free space will be displayed in the right side of the window. Right click on ‘free space’ present in the lower panel and click on ‘initialize drive’. Now again right click on the free space which now appears as a new drive and click on ‘new partition’. After clicking new partition enter the amount of space that you want to allot for the new drive and then enter an alphabet that you want to name that drive, for instance ‘E: or F:’. After naming the drive a prompt will appear asking you to format the newly created drive. Format the drive and then reboot your PC in order to successfully complete creating the partition.
