Here are some of the tips for Gmail users that may be useful for you when you find it to difficult to change settings in your Gmail account. Gmail is a free e-mail service provider from Google that provides many exciting features such as a classy GUI, unlimited & free mail storage space and Google Docs is one of the best feature that you can’t find in other e-mail service providers because you can store scanned copies of valuable documents in Google Docs and can forward them any time and it eliminates the use of carrying printed documents along with you while going to attend interviews which is unsafe as there is a chance of losing them. Instead you can directly go to the interview location, download and take a print of these copies which makes all of your work secure. You can store unlimited number of documents in Google docs with Google providing unlimited storage space for its Gmail users. Some other tips for Gmail include:
- To add an image to one of your contacts in you contact list (Go to contacts – select a contact – click add a picture – browse and select an image – click on apply changes)
- To minimize or maximize no. of e-mails to be displayed per page (Go to settings – select no. of mails in drop down menu present at second position in settings page)
- In the settings page another option is available for changing supported language
- To send invitation regarding an event to your contacts or any email id– (Click on compose mail – select Add event – enter the info in respective fields and compose message)
- To create labels while composing a message (click labels – you can select one of the labels available there or can even create a new one by clicking create new – then enter a label name – click create)
- To bookmark compose mail which will be useful to directly open and compose a message without following necessary steps in case of emergency (Open (https://mail.google.com/mail/#compose)-press ‘ctrl + D’ and give it a name). Thus your compose mail is bookmarked and you can readily compose a mail clicking on you bookmark
How to Block a mail sender? Here you are allowed to either block emails from a single or multiple mail ID’s or even mail ID’s belonging to a particular domain (Select ‘Create a filter link’ present near search – Type mail id abc@abc.com). For blocking multiple mails ID’s use ‘|’ between two ID’s (To block abc@abc.com & xyz@abc.com give it as xyz@abc.com | xyz@abc.com). For blocking mails belonging to a particular domain simply type as ‘@abc.com’. After entering (click on ‘next step’ – check ‘Delete it’ present under ‘choose action’ – select ‘create filter’). You can even check ‘Also apply filter to conversations below’ in order to remove messages or mails that are received previously from those contacts.
