Scientists at University of Aberdeen are developing a new software that converts sign language into text. This software helps the deaf and dumb persons to communicate well with each other and even with normal persons. It also provides various job opportunities to the deaf and dumb as communication with colleagues who could not grasp the signs becomes very easy at work places. The PSLT (Portable Sign language Translator) software uses a camera to record the signs or hand signals, then translates the signals into text using the software and display the text on the screen. Scientists are now planning to convert the software into app in order to increase its usage in various devices like laptops, smart phones, personal computers, tablets etc so that most of the people would get benefited through this software.
