As there is growing hype that world may end on 21st December 2012, some scientists, philosophers and astrologists posted their theory saying that on December 21st there is a possible polar shift i.e., the poles of the planet Earth may shift their positions in reverse order. It means that the north position of the pole may shift to south position and south position may shift to north position. Supporting this theory a Scientist explained that Earth’s magnetic field started declining day by day and by December the declining stops and all of a sudden the Earth starts shifting or reversing its poles. He also stated that declining of Earth’s magnetic field can be observed by the recent climatic changes such as growth of intense heat, solar flare, heavy snow fall like never before etc.
This theory is disagreed by some scientists as they feel that the pace at which the in magnetic field of the Earth is declining currently there will be no polar shift on 21st December. Another bunch of scientists and astrologers stated that on 21st December 2012, the planet Earth will reach the galactic plane center in the milky way which may cause a polar shift. Due to this polar shift there may occur many natural calamities like tsunamis, earthquakes, cyclones etc. This is because if the poles of the Earth exchange or reverse their ends then we will happen to see the Sun changing its direction and raising from the West instead of East and if the poles shift then the polar snow would melt which in turn raises the sea level causing tsunamis and other natural hazards.
