The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 will be started on 11th August, 2012 and will be ending on 26th August, 2012 in Australia where 48 matches will be played between 16 teams divided into four groups. 10 ICC full members and six qualifier teams including Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Nepal are amongst the 16 teams that are participating in this year’s U19 World Cup. In the history of this U19 event Australia is the best team with three title wins in 1988, 2002 and 2010 respectively. India won it twice in 2000 under Mohammad Kaif and in 2008 under the leadership of Virat Kohli where Pakistan was the only team to win the title 2 times consecutively in 2004 and 2006. The 48 matches of the U19 Cricket World Cup will be played at eight venues in Australia. The 16 teams are divided into four groups as:
Group A:
England, Australia, Ireland and Nepal
Group B:
New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Scotland
Group C:
India, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea
Group D:
South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Namibia
