January 12th, 2012 marks Swami Vivekananda 150th birthday and on this occasion the government of Tripura is holding its celebrations by launching 1year program to make people better understand about his life, philosophy and his teachings to take him as an inspiration. This year long program by Tripura government deals with discussions, competitions on writings, seminars etc. Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12th, 1863 in Kolkata to a blessed couple - Vishwanath Datta and Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Vivekananda met Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in November, 1881 and being a great disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Vivekananda started Ramakrishna Mission which mostly consisted of household people. The missionary focused on humanity and their way of thinking and also participated in various generous, disaster relief activities etc. Swami Vivekananda always worked for the benefit of mankind and his teachings also inspired man to change his thinking and purify themselves. He addressed firstly at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11th, 1893 and was the first Indian to address the world by that time. Swami Vivekananda has contributed a lot to world culture, Indian culture and Hinduism. His teachings inspired many people and laid a great path to live.
