Skype is an application developed by Janus Friis and Niklas Zennstrom in 2003. Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5 billion on May 2011 and it was being developed under Microsoft Skype division. The software offers its users to make video calls, voice calls, file transfers, instant messaging and chat for free. There are more than 660 million users and the main head quarter is situated in Luxembourg.
Skype works on Linux, Mac OS X, iPhone, Windows mobile and windows XP/vista/7. It allows us to organize groups, set our profile, group chat, import contacts and since it provides video calling we can see who you are talking. The application also provides good quality sound and secure communication with an encryption that cannot be disabled.
