Varsha Gupta, a seven year old girl and a grade 3 student from Ryan International School, Noida, India
has been declared the winner of ‘Doodle4Google’ contest from over 1, 55, 000 entries, conducted
by Google basing on the theme – ‘India’s Gift to the World’. Varsha’s doodle about ‘Indian Musical
Instruments’ is an amazing creative piece of painting from a 3rd grade student. Explaining about the
doodle, she said about the Gods & Goddesses who play musical instruments, contribution of India’s
musical instruments to the world, about the usage of musical instruments in India on various occasions
and about some of the musical greats of India. Rajan Anandan, MD, VP Sales & Operation for Google
India Inc. have presented the prize consisting of a winner certificate, Technology Starter package which
included a laptop with internet connection for 1 year and a technology grant of Rs. 2, 00, 000 for the
school which she is studying in. Varsha Gupta said that she loves painting and she wants to become
a drawing teacher some day where she gets a lot of time to paint everyday. The doodle designed by
Varsha for Doodle4Google contest will be placed tomorrow i.e., November 14th in the memory of
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru which is celebrated as Children’s Day in India. The Doodle4Google competition
in India is conducted yearly and is open for students from standard 1 to 10. Doodle is a creative logo
of Google that are put on Google home page on some historic days, special events, birthdays of great
people, scientific achievements etc. Clicking on the doodle will take you to the search results page of
Google, where search results will be related to the name of the doodle. The purpose of putting a doodle
is an attempt to let you remember that day and to help you know something about that particular event
or day or that person.
